Interactive and gamification-based technologies to promote childhood mental health
GamKi-Wer-Wie-Was: “Interactive and gamification-based technologies for the promotion of mental health in childhood - participatory investigation of impact factors and cross-alliance evaluation, assessment of technology impacts, ethical issues and science communication” is the scientific advisory project as part of the BMBF call for proposals ‘Gamification-based technologies to promote mental health in childhood’ of the BMBF.
Digital, gamification-based psychotherapy interventions represent a promising approach to improving psychiatric-psychotherapeutic care in childhood. However, this innovative technological approach raises questions about the overall effectiveness of such interventions and possible psychotherapeutic and cognitive mechanisms of action. In addition, there are general questions about the technological consequences, stigmatization and the ethical, legal and social aspects (ELSA) of gamification-based psychotherapy.
To investigate these questions with the highest scientific standards is the primary goal of GamKi-Wer-Wie-Was. Prof. Wienrich's sub-project “Digital Interaction & Consequences of Technologies” develops guidelines, criteria and formative and summative methods for the implementation of user-centered design and co-creation approaches with regard to the evaluation of human-technology interaction in childhood. The technology, the interaction, the degree of gamification as well as special opportunities and risks for the target group of children and parents are addressed.
