moreOut of more than 2,300 applications, Erik Wolf from the HCI and PIIS Group was selected as one of 37 outstanding PhD students to be funded within the 2022 Meta PhD Research Fellowship program. This prestigious achievement was granted to only six participants from outside the US and once again puts the Würzburg AR/VR research into the neighbourship of elite research facilities like Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, or ETH. Congratulations to Erik Wolf for this outstanding achievement!
moreThe XR Hub hosted an event for the WueWW on Friday, the 22nd of October 2021 to give an insight into the world of extended reality and to showcase fields of application of XR. The XR Hub Würzburg introduced five areas of application of XR: therapy and health, education and training, co-working and creativity, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and fundamental research and knowledge transfer.
moreAt Demo Day, exciting student projects from the nine Bavarian bidt innovation labs were presented. The event also marks the end of the current funding round. In addition to the presentation of the labs and their projects, participants expected an award ceremony in the categories of Play & Leisure, Education & Workplace, DigitalHealth, Data Science, and Sustainability.

The Places_ VR Festival took place from 16th to 18th of September in Gelsenkirchen.
The Places _ Virtual Reality Festival is Germany's first, largest, freely accessible, and free festival for virtual reality. In 2021, the festival already entered its third round. The Places _ VR Festival is aimed equally at a professional audience, but especially at a broad public audience, and has been held in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf since 2018. Places is a meeting place for the German and European XR industry as well as a contact point for many people interested in VR.
